Prior to joining the SBDC in 1994, Ms. Macaluso held management, marketing and customer service roles with IBM and Eastern Airlines. She also worked in a family owned and operated business, a hosiery manufacturing plant. Her areas of expertise include marketing, market research, strategic planning, human resources, personal selling, customer service, and management. Sharon developed a strategic planning instrument specifically for growing small businesses and has utilized this tool in facilitating strategic planning retreats for small businesses throughout the state. Sharon has had various articles published on branding, strategic planning, customer service and women- owned business issues, and has developed guide books on market research and conducting focus group studies. She recently created and presented a program for the National Association of Small Business Development Centers on “Customer Service Excellence in a Techno-World”.

John’s areas of expertise include financial analysis, advanced accounting functions and financial strategy development. He is also highly regarded for his knowledge of management structures, multiple unit management and strategic planning. John is well versed in family business management structures and succession planning. Before joining SBDC, John has spent his life as an entrepreneur in both the service and retail industry. For over 25+ years, he operated a multiple store dry cleaning chain which employed over 150 people. His knowledge on all aspects of business can be attributed to this experience. His focus was on providing outstanding customer service through the use of energetic management and employee motivation. As a partner, he also owned and operated a full service florist and tuxedo rental business for over 12 years.

Mr. Beveridge spent six years as a successful small business owner prior to joining the Georgia SBDC Network. He has experience in every facet of small business operations and has developed specific expertise in the food and retail sectors. Mr. Beveridge also spent several years in corporate financial roles and is well-versed in quantitative functions like budgeting, financial planning, pricing, and cash-flow forecasting. Additionally, he spent four years conducting search-and-rescue operations in the United States Coast Guard.
