Prior to joining the SBDC in 1994, Ms. Macaluso held management, marketing and customer service roles with IBM and Eastern Airlines. She also worked in a family owned and operated business, a hosiery manufacturing plant. Her areas of expertise include marketing, market research, strategic planning, human resources, personal selling, customer service, and management. Sharon developed a strategic planning instrument specifically for growing small businesses and has utilized this tool in facilitating strategic planning retreats for small businesses throughout the state. Sharon has had various articles published on branding, strategic planning, customer service and women- owned business issues, and has developed guide books on market research and conducting focus group studies. She recently created and presented a program for the National Association of Small Business Development Centers on “Customer Service Excellence in a Techno-World”.

Mr. Thiele has spent most of his career in manufacturing and product development. As Vice President of Engineering and Product development for both AWH Corporation and GF Furniture Systems, Mr. Thiele has been responsible for the development of modular buildings and equipment for convenient stores and prison systems and a complete line of office furniture and office landscape systems. Mr. Thiele has owned and operated a Mail Boxes Etc. store and as manager of Energy for USX initiated and managed an energy cost reduction program for the Corporation that resulted in over $420,000,000 in annual savings. For over 25+ years, he operated a multiple store dry cleaning chain which employed over 150 people. His knowledge on all aspects of business can be attributed to this experience. His focus was on providing outstanding customer service through the use of energetic management and employee motivation. As a partner, he also owned and operated a full service florist and tuxedo rental business for over 12 years.
