Description

QuickBooks® is one of the most popular accounting software programs for small businesses owners and self-employed professionals.

This course is designed to help participants establish the core foundation necessary to identify, establish and maintain an effective accounting system. Highly recommended for small business owners who are considering QuickBooks or who have just purchased the program, it also serves as a preparation for the QuickBooks® 2015 Basic course. The three hour presentation covers a range of topics including a review of the critical factors to consider when choosing an accounting software program, current QuickBooks® products and services and a review of the major differences between QuickBooks® Desktop and Online versions. Participants will also be introduced to new QuickBooks® 2015 Desktop features, process involved in setting up a new company data file together with a demonstration and review of daily transactions and reports.

The application is generally considered very intuitive and easy to use once you gain a basic understanding of its features and how they relate to the processing of business related transactions. QuickBooks® 2015 Basic is a seven hour course designed specifically for beginning level users of QuickBooks® 2015 and some earlier versions. It provides participants with a practical understanding of QuickBooks® and hands-on practice entering many common transactions.

The course covers a basic overview of accounting principles, concepts, and methods, along with QuickBooks® features, products and services. Working in a computer lab environment, the course uses case studies to provide participants with practical experience necessary to set up a new company data file; manage and customize templates, chart of accounts and items; add customer, vendor, and other name profiles; and process daily transactions and reports.

The course will cover the following topics:

  • Accounting Principles Overview – An overview of general accounting concepts and methods helps users get the most useful information from their QuickBooks program.
  • New Company Set Up – Learn to manage the chart of accounts, and set up customers, vendors and other common accounts.
  • Recording Daily Transactions – Create service, inventory and non-inventory items, record daily transactions including purchase orders, receiving inventory, invoicing, receiving payments, making deposits, writing checks and credit card transactions and much more.
  • Reports – This module reviews the report center and all the financial reports available together with the new Insight feature which monitors key performance indicators. Data file storage and maintenance will also be covered.

This course designed for experienced QuickBooks® Desktop users will provide participants with useful trouble shooting hints and tips on the most common issues associated with QuickBooks®. Participants will learn how to fully utilize all of the most important features, products and services necessary to manage their business operations. Topics include maintaining data files, changing preferences, establishing price and billing rate levels, recording payroll information and sales tax, trouble-shooting bank reconciliations, setting up budgets and using advanced reporting features. Participants will also be allowed to submit questions to be discussed during class.

The course will cover the following topics:

  • Data File Maintenance: Participants will be introduced to the various options available to maintain and store QuickBooks® data files. Topics including accessing product information, scheduling backups, data integrity, condensing files, using control keys, customizing icon bar, setting closing dates, creating users and passwords.
  • Customer and Vendor Advanced Features: This section is designed to provide participants with a review of how to create price levels, billing price levels, changing item prices, using the 1099 wizard, sales and use tax and inventory related adjustments. It will also cover the use of the class feature for reporting purposes.
  • Tricky Transactions and Troubleshooting: Topics covered in this section include correcting bank reconciliation errors, entering payroll data prepared by an outside payroll service and recording retainers.
  • Reports: Using QuickBooks® Audit Trail feature, customizing and filtering reports, reviewing key performance indicators and importing Excel related data into QuickBooks® will be covered in this section.

QuickBooks GoOnline is fast becoming one of Intuit’s primary products as it allows users to access data anytime and anywhere. This new course is designed in support of the new and improved 2015 QuickBooks Online version. Developed specifically for beginners and prospective users the course provides a practical hands on approach to learning the features and the functions available to users online.

Using case studies in a computer lab environment, participants will be able to access QuickBooks online, set up a new company file, create product and service items, manage chart of accounts, add customer and vendor profiles, process daily transactions and also view reports.

The course will cover the following topics:
