Becky Brownlee

Area Director

Mrs. Brownlee has been a small business owner for over 20 years. She has owned businesses in manufacturing, specialty retail, beauty and trade schools, health and fitness, agriculture and real estate and construction. In addition to owning her own businesses, she also has experience in the financial, hospitality and insurance sectors. Mrs. Brownlee’s businesses have encompassed both independent and franchise operations. She specializes in financing and access to capital and all aspects of commercial real estate including site/space selection, building/ land acquisition and financing, lease negotiations, zoning, construction and permitting.

Hunter Ginn

Business Consultant

Prior to joining SBDC as a Consultant, Hunter worked for Synovus Bank as a Retail Market Leader, Business Banker, and Construction Lender. Following his tenure in banking, Hunter went to work for the Small Business Assistance Corporation, a non-profit lender based in Savannah, GA, briefly as a credit underwriter, quickly moving into a commercial lending role, with a focus on growing the organization’s SBA Community Advantage, USDA, and Capital Fund portfolios. As a function of his finance background, Hunter has accumulated more than 13 years of experience in consultative sales, credit and risk management, financial analysis, and government-guaranteed financing vehicles. Additionally, while at the SBAC, Hunter edited and structured two Certified Development Financial Institution Fund grant requests, which resulted in the award of $2MM, the proceeds of which were used to fund the unguaranteed portions of SBA CA credits.

Nadia Osman

Business Consultant

Nadia Osman joined the UGA Small Business Development Center in 2020 and has over a decade of experience designing, marketing and implementing programs for public-private partnerships, startups, non-profits and the U.S. Air Force, valued at over $6 billion. Her career prior to the UGA SBDC included developing affordable housing, new businesses and public events in the Central Georgia region, as well as launching the Shop Local Macon initiative, the area’s first makerspace and Georgia’s first Young Entrepreneurs Academy. Throughout her previous roles, Osman developed a passion for helping people making a living doing what they love. Her areas of expertise include business ideation and evaluation, business plan development, business pitches, communication, data analysis, marketing strategy, social media marketing, email marketing, digital marketing, print marketing, graphic design and website development.

Liz Overstreet

Liz Overstreet

Program Coordinator

Liz has been with the UGA SBDC in Savannah since May 2010. As Program Coordinator, she wears many hats. Liz is an office manager, research analyst, class facilitator, event coordinator, and marketer. In addition to these duties, Liz provides aspiring entrepreneurs with basic business information and direction in becoming a business owner. Her business and education background provide a solid foundation to guide clients toward success. She is the first point of contact for the office and continually works to improve the presence of the SBDC in Savannah.
Before joining the SBDC, Liz worked in the commercial leasing industry and as a fourth-grade teacher.

Valerie McElveen

Area Director

Prior to joining the Small Business Development Center, Valerie worked in the areas of accounting and operations. Her experience ranges from working in a large manufacturing environment to working with small local companies. She brings to the SBDC knowledge financial aspects important to small businesses including cost accounting, financial analysis, cash flow management, and financial forecasting.

John Myers

John Myers

Business Consultant

With extensive practice in new business development, sales, and operations John has developed and implemented revenue growth processes at large and small companies. He has been a key partner in growing small businesses and bringing new products to market. John has studied and implemented processes for lead generation and developed roadmaps to bring about company evolution through organizational changes. He has advised and trained professionals in tactics, strategy and resources to achieve business objectives.
