Shantia Carnegie

Shantia is the administrative associate for the Albany office. She is a graduate of Grantham University Online, with an AAS in Criminal Justice. Prior to joining the UGA ABDC, she served as a tech support specialist for the Division of Family & Children Services, assisting in account login restriction and providing and regaining access to Georgia Gateway website. Etta James assists the UGA SBDC as an administrative associate, initial point of contact, and resource guide. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a BA in Communications Studies focusing on both professional communication and family communication ethics.   Prior to joining the UGA SBDC, she served as an office assistant for the UGA Geography Department, engaged in event planning, and provided social media marketing to small businesses. With a passion for professional development, she supports the management and organization of the SBDC as their liaison.

Kathy Plisko

Kathy Plisko is the area director of the UGA SBDC at Georgia State University.   She brings a wealth of experience in financial services and process improvement to the organization. She spent 25+ years in the financial services industry, specifically underwriting and analyzing companies and negotiating legal documents for corporate asset-based transactions as an underwriter, underwriting manager, and portfolio manager.   Kathy has extensive experience in analyzing financial trends, running sensitivity analysis on cash flows, mentoring and training junior employees, process improvement, developing underwriting tools, and developing training programs for underwriters and portfolio managers. She also spent 7 years with a large multinational conglomerate as an auditor, process improvement facilitator, underwriter, and portfolio manager within their financial services division. Her experience spans across a broad range of industries including healthcare, transportation and shipping, manufacturing, service, and technology.

Lauren Davis

Lauren joined the UGA Small Business Development Center in the Spring of 2022 as an Administrative Outreach Specialist for the Southern Coastal team. She is a Double Eagle graduate of Georgia Southern University, earning her BS in Public Relations in May 2020 followed by her MA in Professional Communication and Leadership in December 2021.   Prior to joining the UGA SBDC, Lauren held marketing internships at McNeilus Companies and Habitat for Humanity of Bulloch County as well as a graduate assistantship with GSU’s Academic Success Center. In these roles, she concentrated on corporate communications and strategy along with public relations and storytelling at the community level.

Troy Vollenweider

Prior to joining the UGA SBDC, Troy previously held financial and operational positions in commercial banking, small business management and healthcare administration.  His commercial banking background covers almost 15 years of commercial lending, real estate lending, and mortgage warehousing.   Troy's small business management experience includes work in real estate/property management with traditional and government-subsidized housing.  In 2004, he completed the Certified Professional of Occupancy (CPO) designation requirements with the National Affordable Housing Management Association.  With his broad business background, Troy enjoys working with small businesses to help them reach their full potential.

Candice started with the UGA SBDC in DeKalb in February 2022. She brings over seven years of combined experience in marketing strategy, customer service and sales within retail and animal health industries.   Before her start at the UGA SBDC, she managed marketing plans and communications as an Associate Marketing Manager at BI Animal Health while completing her Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from University of Georgia. During her tenure at the company, she won awards for customer experience, created multiple strategic brand plans, and executed business-building tactics.   Her passion lies with helping entrepreneurs and small business owners start, grow, and succeed in their business.
