Al brings to the SBDC over 35 years of business experience with major corporations, small businesses and start-ups. Prior to joining the UGA SBDC in Gainesville office, he was a Professor of Business and Entrepreneurship in the graduate school at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. While in Alaska he started the first angel investment group in the state, directed the yearly state-wide business plan competition and worked with numerous organizations in developing and delivering programs for entrepreneurs and small business owners. Before that, he spent fourteen years with five small businesses, which he helped start and manage as CFO and VP of Operations. He also worked in senior management positions for Xerox Corporation and Lanier Worldwide in his earlier career years.
Al has extensive experience in financial planning/ analysis, risk management, human resources, business plan development, infrastructure development, capital acquisition and negotiations. His education includes a degree in economics from Temple University and an MBA from Drexel University.
