Owning your own business is the American dream. Building it to withstand the test of time requires a unique set of tools. SBDC StartSmart™ provides the resources, support, and motivation to put your dream within reach.
This SBDC signature course, is only offered once a year, designed for entrepreneurs who; have been in business for less than two years or who wants to start a business, wants to open a different location or pursue a new business venture and needs to develop a detailed business plan to acquire funding.
SBDC StartSmart™ provides the tools to:
- Evaluate your concept and develop plans to move forward.
- Improve knowledge of business fundamentals.
- Build an infrastructure for business operations and processes.
SBDC StartSmart™ graduates acquire:
- An actionable business plan.
- Access to financial and business resources.
- A network of entrepreneurial peers and professionals.
In this multi-session program, learn to plan and analyze your vision by creating a thoroughly researched and tested business plan 8 three-hour sessions!
All sessions are led by experienced SBDC facilitators who help create a unique and powerful learning experience.

Thanks to our Statewide Sponsor, Wells Fargo, tuition is $295 for this four week program. Applications are reviewed and approved to ensure competitive conflicts are minimized and requirements are met. Tuition includes the textbook, materials, continental breakfast and lunch for each class and a certificate of completion from The University of Georgia for all graduates.
