Women Owned Wednesdays

October is Women’s Small Business Month. To celebrate, for the past 14 years, our DeKalb office has hosted an annual Women’s Small Business conference. Eight years ago, our Athens office joined in by hosting a similar event every year.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to host our usual event. But we weren’t going to give up that easily!

That’s why we’re proud to introduce Women-Owned Wednesdays (WOW). WOW is a series of no-cost webinars being offered from UGA SBDC offices across the state every Wednesday in October. We’re excited to offer this series of classes by women for women in celebration of Women’s Small Business Month.

Join us each Wednesday this October from anywhere in Georgia.

Research has shown that women have a distinct leadership style. In this webinar, you will learn to use that power to effectively lead teams, assert yourself, negotiate, understand your worth, and more. This class is for everyone – whether you are already in a management role or dreaming about the day when you can transition into a leadership position. Learn how to recognize the barriers, unconscious biases, and stereotyping that women encounter in the workplace and how to overcome those for yourself and others. Get tools and strategies to help you stop worrying about being labeled “bossy” so that you can start focusing on being the boss. Presenting is Robbie Parks, a business consultant with the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center. This webinar is part of our WOW Event Series.
